co-Conscious Designer Unveils Line Of Hemp Sunglasses

How far can the creativity of a young talent reach? Meet Sam Whitten. Holding a degree in product design, a vast knowledge of the hemp material and a passion for innovation, Sam wants to introduce the world’s first pair of hemp sunglasses to the market.

As part of the his upcoming Hemp Eyewear collection, designer Sam Whitten is looking to ditch the plastic in favor of something a bit more eco-conscious. To make each pair of shades, Whitten simply compresses and molds the flax and hemp under heat, and out comes a pair of sunglasses like the ones you see pictured.

The product is characterized by maintaining the ecological footprint. This sunglasses are made of hemp, a fiber extracted from a variety of the cannabis plant. The design and development are made by hand. Each pair has been treated with an eco-friendly bio resin that not only adds some strength to the mix, but also makes the glasses waterproof as well.

“We believe this incredible material (hemp) should be used to create more sustainable products. We are the only hemp sunglasses available. Our idea is to make the most of this material, we believe it’s important for communities far and wide to work together. We are committed to helping hemp farming communities wherever we can.” they say in Hemp, the official name of the project.

They are still working towards getting the hemp sunglasses ready, which will hopefully be before the year-end. When that’s done, you’ll be able purchase your very own pair of Hemps throughtheir website.

Sam Whitten adds “Hemp has been used worldwide for centuries. It is used for everything. It is one of the world’s strongest fiber plants and  in most cases hemp has superior quality compared to other alternative materials, as well as being more sustainable.  ” that is how he upholds why hemp is his company’s element of choice.
